Perfect everyday life backpack

"I needed something compact but spacious on the inside for my daily commute. I’ve had my Herschel Retreat for 10 years since college and it’s been through everything with me and held up well. I like that the Seymour is front loading, has a side zip for easy laptop access, and a secure front side pocket for keys and wallet. The mini pocket at the top is an added bonus. The two water bottle pockets were a nice surprise, especially with the expandable mesh to fit larger bottles. The design is perfect, mixing the timeless classic logo and brown leather details with the sleek and slim all black exterior and matching striped interior. It’s a very slim profile, but because it’s taller, it can hold more. Took this on a weekend trip and was able to fit my clothes, laptop, notebook, keys, wallet, chargers, and a small bag of my kids’ LEGO pieces comfortably. It seems pretty sturdy, so I’m confident I’ve found my backpack for the next 10+ years!"

Zip quality has plummeted

"I bought a herschel bag in 2016. The metal zip was so strong even under pressure that it did not break in 10 years. In my new bag, a thin plastic zip that will not last more than a year. Highly disappointed."

Great quality but too small

"The bag doesn't hold a heck of a lot. 13" laptop, 1 binder, 1 set of gym clothes (no shoes), and a lunch bag is a squeeze. The bag doesn't fully zip open, making it difficult to get things in and out. The quality of materials and craftsmanship is on par with what you would expect from Hershel, but if using for a student who needs to carry textbooks in addition to the items mentioned above this will not work."
